Tulane Sailing Lands Third and Fifth Place Finishes at Weekend Regattas

Tulane sailing delivered a strong weekend on the water, posting a third place finish at the Yale Women’s Fleet Race in New Haven, Connecticut, and a fifth place result at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Finals in Providence, Rhode Island. The Green Wave showed consistency across both events, reinforcing their credentials as one of the top collegiate sailing programs heading into the conference championship season.

On the waters of Granite Bay, Tulane claimed third place among 18 teams in the Yale Women’s Fleet Race, finishing with a total score of 146 through 13 rotations across two divisions. The Green Wave recorded 15 top-five finishes over the course of the regatta, including four race victories.

Skipper Paige Tillson teamed with crews Perrin Mueller and Winnie Young to pace Tulane in the B Division. The trio was dominant, winning the division outright with a final score of 56 while claiming three of their 13 races. In the A Division, skipper Sophia Dias raced with crew Caitlin Briggs, while skipper Lola Kohl paired with crew Skye Terrell. The four sailors combined for a fifth place divisional finish with a total score of 90 across 13 rotations.

Meanwhile at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Finals, hosted by Brown on Narragansett Bay, the Green Wave finished fifth out of 18 teams with a total score of 137 through 10 rotations. Tulane earned one race victory and placed in the top three across the two divisions a total of eight times.

Skipper Tate Christopher and crew Charlotte Casey led the charge in the B Division, placing second with a total score of 62. The pair notched one race win and five top-three performances in the division. In the A Division, skipper Hamilton Barclay teamed with crew Taylor Bartell to finish seventh with a score of 75.

Up next, Tulane will travel to Corpus Christi, Texas, for the SEISA Fall Championships. The conference championship regatta will be hosted by Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Saturday and Sunday, October 31 through November 1. The event represents a significant opportunity for the Green Wave to measure themselves against the best in the Southeastern Intercollegiate Sailing Association ahead of the fall national championships.
