Boston College Sailing Claims Runner-Up Spot at Open Atlantic Coast Championship

Boston College sailing delivered an outstanding performance over the weekend, securing a runner-up finish at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship hosted by Brown in Providence, Rhode Island. The Eagles also competed at the Norman Reid Team Race and the Lane Trophy Team Race as part of a busy three-regatta slate.

At the Open Atlantic Coast Championship, Boston College posted an impressive 113 total points to claim second place out of 18 competing teams. Division A proved to be the Eagles’ strongest showing, with skipper Alex Lech and crew Lanie Ferrarone finishing second in their division on 50 points. In Division B, skipper Cody Roe and crew Brooke Bergendahl locked in a fifth-place result with 63 points, helping cement BC’s overall runner-up position.

Meanwhile on Dorchester Bay, the Eagles hosted the Norman Reid Team Race, where they finished fifth out of six teams with a 3-7 record through a double round robin format. The squad featured skippers Kylie Craig, James O’Gwen, and Sophie Niemann sailing alongside crews Damien Bocan and Madeline Torrey. The team picked up victories over Harvard, Boston University, and Brown during the event.

With momentum building from another productive weekend, the Eagles now look ahead to their next challenge at the Schell Trophy on Saturday, October 31. Boston College continues to show depth across multiple lineups as the fall season progresses, and the second-place result at the Atlantic Coast Championship underscores the program’s competitive standing among the top collegiate sailing teams in the region.
