Boston College Sailing Claims Women’s Atlantic Coast Tournament Title and Adds Multiple Top Finishes

Boston College sailing enjoyed a dominant weekend, headlined by a first-place finish at the Women’s Atlantic Coast Tournament in Annapolis, Maryland. The Eagles complemented that victory with a runner-up result at the 35th Captain Hurst Bowl and a pair of top-four finishes at the Savin Hill Invite, underscoring the program’s depth across multiple events.

At the Women’s Atlantic Coast Tournament, Boston College topped a field of 18 teams with a 151-point total. In Division A, skipper Sophie Niemann and crew Gabrielle Trinter finished eighth with 92 points. Division B proved to be the difference-maker, as skipper Charlotte MacDonald and crew Ainsley West sailed to fifth place with 59 points. The combined effort allowed the Eagles to edge second-place Old Dominion by just six points and secure the regatta title.

The 35th Captain Hurst Bowl, hosted by Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire, saw Boston College claim second place with 117 points. Tanner Krygsveld skippered Division A alongside crews Brooke Bergendahl and Christian Yanoti, finishing third with 48 points. In Division B, skipper Ryan McGauley and crew Brendan Peary contributed a fourth-place result with 69 points.

Closer to home at the Savin Hill Invite, the Eagles fielded two boats that both cracked the top four out of 18 teams. The BC Eagles 2 squad earned second place with 57 points, powered by Division A winners Oliver Holt (skipper) and Abbie Catalano (crew) with 27 points, and Division B’s Glen Foster (skipper) and Damien Bocan (crew), who placed second with 30 points. The BC Eagles 1 team finished fourth overall with 104 points. Division A’s Michael Sentovich (skipper) and Aiesha Shekhar (crew) took sixth place with 70 points, while Division B’s Matthew Commons (skipper) and Lauren Leonard (crew) contributed a third-place finish with 34 points.

The strong weekend of results across three regattas highlights the impressive form of the Boston College sailing program heading into the heart of the fall season. The Eagles will look to carry that momentum into their next competition at the Norman Reid Team Race on October 24.
