College of Charleston Sailing Qualifies for Open ACC Final After Dominant Weekend

College of Charleston sailing capped off a stellar weekend by qualifying for the Open ACC Final, while also claiming a regatta victory and a runner-up offshore finish. The Cougars demonstrated impressive depth across multiple events held on Saturday, October 10.

At the Open ACC Qualifiers in Larchmont, New York, the Cougars secured an eighth-place finish with 208 total points, split across two divisions with 94 and 114 points respectively. Stanford claimed the top spot with 108 points, followed by St. Mary’s at 158 and Roger Williams at 172. The result was enough to punch Charleston’s ticket to the Open ACC Final.

Back home in Charleston, South Carolina, the CofC Women’s Fall regatta was a convincing victory for the host team. Charleston’s boats collected 16 and 19 points for a combined 35 total points, comfortably ahead of Old Dominion with 87 points and Jacksonville with 102.

Meanwhile, in Annapolis, Maryland, the College of Charleston offshore team earned a strong second-place finish at the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta, adding yet another impressive result to an already productive weekend.

Looking ahead, the Cougars are set to compete in both the Women’s ACC Finals and the McMillan Cup on October 17-18. With momentum building across their fleet racing and offshore programs, Charleston enters the next round of competition in confident form.
