The 420 European Circuit is back for a second season, with an expanded 2026–2027 calendar featuring 10 regattas spread across Europe. Following a successful inaugural edition, the International 420 Class Association has unveiled a programme that promises sailors even more chances to compete on the international stage, racing from the Mediterranean to Northern Europe.
Building on the momentum generated during the 2025–2026 season, the second edition of the Circuit brings together a carefully curated selection of established international regattas. The upcoming calendar will take competitors through Greece, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Portugal, Slovenia, France, Hungary, Lithuania and Germany.
The 2026–2027 season kicks off in November with Athens International Sailing Week in Greece, before moving to Italy for the Imperia Winter Regatta and then Spain for the traditional Palamós Christmas Race in December. Action resumes in February 2027 with the Portugal Grand Prix – Round 2 and the Zadar Regatta in Croatia, followed by the Izola Spring Cup in Slovenia from 25–28 March and the Kereked Ifi Kupa in Hungary from 15–17 May. CIMA in France is also on the schedule, with dates to be confirmed.
The Circuit’s closing stages shift to Northern Europe, where the North European Championship is scheduled for 10–13 June in Nida, Lithuania, followed by Kiel Week in Germany from 19–27 June 2027. Event dates and details remain subject to change, with any dates marked as TBC to be updated once officially announced by organisers.
Since its introduction in 2025–2026, the European Circuit has steadily developed into a platform that connects well-known regattas under one cohesive season-long competition.
José Massapina, President of the International 420 Class Association, shared his enthusiasm for the expanded programme. “Following the success of the inaugural European Circuit, we are delighted to take another step forward with an expanded calendar for the 2026–2027 season. Our goal is to create more opportunities for 420 sailors to compete internationally, experience different sailing venues and connect with the wider 420 community. With 10 regattas across Europe and a flexible format that counts each crew’s four best results, we want to make the Circuit both competitive and accessible, while continuing to strengthen the relationships between our national fleets and event organisers.”
With this broader calendar, the second edition aims to strengthen international participation, encourage sailors to explore diverse racing venues and provide more pathways into competitive 420 sailing throughout the year. Further information, including event details, registration links and ranking updates, will be made available through the official International 420 Class Association website.
