Tufts coed sailing secured a strong sixth-place finish out of 17 teams at the Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1A regatta, punching their ticket to the upcoming ACC finals. The event was hosted by St. Mary’s College Maryland in St. Mary’s City and concluded on October 11, 2026.
The Jumbos sat seventh after Saturday’s racing but climbed one position on Sunday after completing four races each in A and B divisions. Over 14 total races across both divisions for the weekend, Tufts compiled a total score of 201, with 90 points in A division and 111 in B division.
The sixth-place result placed the Jumbos comfortably within the top nine, which is the qualification threshold for the ACC finals. That championship event will be held at Brown University on October 24-25. The top nine teams from the 1A regatta will join the best nine from the 1B event held at Navy the same weekend, creating an 18-team finals field.
In A division, Tufts finished fifth overall for the weekend. Sophomore skipper Crue Ziskind sailed with senior crew Reddin Kehrli for two Sunday races, recording finishes of sixth and 11th. Senior Cody Lamoreux then stepped in as crew for Ziskind in the final two Sunday races, and the pairing delivered impressive results that included a win and a fifth-place finish.
B division saw sophomore Pearse Dowd and first-year Sophie Dart represent the Jumbos in all four Sunday races. A fourth-place score in the second race of the day was a highlight, helping Tufts finish eighth in B division for the weekend.
Stanford University claimed the overall ACC 1A regatta title with a dominant performance, posting a 44-64-108 scoring line across both divisions.
