The SB20 Europeans 2025 wrapped up in Ostend with a title race that came down to the final beat, and the short highlight reel from Day 5 captures just how tight the margins were. Hendrik Witzmann, sailing Desert Eagle with Will Sargent and Tom Cracknell, overturned a long-standing points deficit to pip Team Xcellent by a mere three points in shifty Belgian conditions that punished anyone who committed early to a side of the course.
Team Xcellent had led much of the regatta, but one-design fleets like the SB20 are unforgiving when the breeze starts playing games close to shore, and the final race turned into the kind of head-to-head match-racing contest that decides championships rather than regattas. Ireland’s Team TED kept their composure through the closing stages to lock up third overall, a result that rewarded consistency over the week rather than any single standout race.
Divisional Honours at the SB20 Europeans 2025
Beyond the overall podium, the event handed out silverware across its divisions, with FFVoile Youth taking the Youth title, venuesworld.com topping the Masters fleet, and a Maltese crew claiming the Female Division. Those separate battles are easy to overlook when the overall lead is swinging on the last lap, but they underline how deep the SB20 Europeans 2025 entry list ran at Royal North Sea Yacht Club.
The footage itself is brief, but it’s worth a look for anyone who wants a sense of the tactical squeeze in the closing moments — you can watch the SB20 European Championship 2025 Day 5 recap to see the leaders jockeying in real time. Looking Ahead
With Ostend now settled, attention turns to the SB20 Worlds 2026 in Hyères, where Witzmann’s crew will arrive as reigning European champions and a clear target for the rest of the fleet.
