Eight WASZP Sailors Invited to Race the FIV Foil Academy International Trophy in Sardinia

Eight WASZP sailors from different nations have been invited to compete at the 4th FIV Foil Academy International Trophy in Villasimius, Sardinia, from 6 to 8 November 2026. Applications close on Friday 23 October, so interested sailors need to act fast.

The event takes place at Marina di Villasimius, located on Sardinia’s stunning south-east coast. It forms part of the broader Sardinia Challenge and is powered by Luna Rossa. The WASZP fleet will race alongside Wingfoil, iQFOiL, Kitefoil, and Switch classes, making for a spectacular multi-discipline foiling showcase.

Eight places are available by invitation for WASZP sailors representing different nations. Organisers recommend that competitors bring their own 8.2 sail, though one will be provided if that is not possible. The call is open to male sailors only, as the 8.2 rig is the only option available at the event.

Selection will be based largely on the current WASZP 8.2 international ranking. The eight successful sailors will be announced in the week of 26 October.

To be considered, sailors must complete the application form by Friday 23 October at 23:59 CEST (UTC+2). With Sardinia’s reliable autumn winds and world-class sailing waters as the backdrop, this is a coveted opportunity for top WASZP competitors to test themselves against international rivals on one of the Mediterranean’s finest stages.
