Tulane sailing secured a strong second-place finish at the Sugar Bowl Women’s Fleet Races, the Green Wave’s first home regatta of the 2026-27 season in New Orleans. The team posted a final score of 135 across eight races in three divisions, finishing behind regatta winner Stanford.
The A Division trio of skipper Oakley Cunningham with crews Paige Tillson and Winnie Young set the pace for Tulane on the water. The group finished second in the division and fourth overall with a score of 41. Across their eight races, the trio landed in the top four on three occasions, highlighted by a second-place effort that stood as their best result of the regatta.
In the B Division, skipper Sophia Dias and crew Caroline Caudron delivered a solid performance, finishing third in the division and fifth overall with 45 points. Dias and Caudron also notched three top-four finishes, including a second-place result in their opening race of the weekend.
Completing the lineup for the Green Wave, skipper Lola Kohl and crew Skye Terrell competed in the C Division. The pair finished second in the division and eighth overall with a final score of 49 in the eight-race regatta.
Looking ahead, the Green Wave will head northeast for a busy weekend of road regattas on Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4. Tulane will send sailors to the Women’s Atlantic Coast Championship Round One in Harpswell, Maine, and the Danmark Trophy in New London, Connecticut. Both events offer the team valuable opportunities to compete against top collegiate programs as the fall season ramps up.
