The International Melges 24 Class Association has announced its 2026 Annual General Meeting, set for Saturday, November 14 in Milan, Italy. The Melges 24 AGM will once again follow a hybrid format, allowing members to attend in person at Open Building Research S.r.l., Via Ciovasso 4, 20121 Milan, or join remotely via Zoom. The meeting begins at 1:30 PM CET and is open to all National Class Associations and Executive Committee members.
IM24CA Chair Duncan Stamper expressed enthusiasm for the gathering, emphasizing its importance for the class and its global membership. The AGM serves as the key annual occasion for the World Council to consider and decide on proposals to the Class Rules and Regulations, elect officers of the Association, and select venues for future championships.
Ahead of the AGM, the Technical Committee will hold an open meeting on October 8, during which it will review and explain proposals for changes to the Class Rule and Constitution along with other key topics. All NCAs and interested persons are welcome to participate. Meeting details and the agenda will be published closer to the date, though NCAs are encouraged to submit proposals during September or by September 30.
The class is also looking forward to two major championship events. The 27th edition of the Melges 24 World Championship, with 45 teams entered as of the announcement, will be hosted by Little Traverse Yacht Club in Harbor Springs, Michigan, USA, from September 19 to 26. The 17th edition of the Melges 24 European Championship, with 42 teams entered, will be hosted by Tønsberg Seilforening in Norway from August 29 to September 4. An Owners’ Open Meeting will also be held, providing a valuable opportunity for direct exchange with class leadership.
Several key deadlines lead up to the AGM. The first deadline falls on September 30, 2026, when motions and nominations must be submitted to Class Administrator Piret Salmistu at piret@melges24.com. This deadline has been extended by 12 days due to the timing of the World Championship. Motions, amendments, and nominations may only be submitted by NCAs. Members with proposals are encouraged to contact their NCA Officers as soon as possible to have submissions reviewed and forwarded before the closing date.
Amendments to motions must be submitted no later than four weeks before the AGM, with the Secretary and Administrator distributing an attachment to the agenda of any such amendments no later than three weeks before the meeting. The Secretary and Administrator will also distribute the full agenda of all motions, nominations, and relevant paperwork no later than six weeks before the AGM. Voting totals by country will be published subject to timely receipt of payment, and a final deadline for dues payments will also apply.
No Executive Committee positions are open for election at the 2026 AGM. The full list of Executive Committee members is available on the IM24CA website. Bids are now open for future events through 2029 and beyond, with Event Regulations available on the IM24CA website. Submission forms can be downloaded in WORD or fillable PDF format.
National Classes are asked to send a National Class Report summarizing their 2026 activities and situation to piret@melges24.com before the AGM, at the latest on November 12. Nations must also confirm the names of their representatives, proxies, and any observers to Class Administrator Piret Salmistu as soon as possible, but before November 14. If a World Council Member cannot attend, their NCA may appoint a substitute for that meeting only, with written designations received by the Treasurer and Administrator before the meeting begins.
