Bushwhacker Cup Cancelled: NASS Melges 24 Event Pulled from 2026 Schedule

The Bushwhacker Cup 2026 has been cancelled, removing a key stop from the Melges 24 North American Sailing Series calendar. The regatta had been scheduled for November 14-15, 2026, at Pensacola Yacht Club in Pensacola, Florida.

The event was set to be hosted at the club’s location on 1897 Cypress Street, with Tony Stanley, Southeast District Governor, listed as the event contact. The Bushwhacker Cup has been a fixture within the Melges 24 racing community, making its cancellation a notable development for competitors planning their 2026 campaigns.

The 2026 Melges 24 North American Sailing Series had previously been promoted as offering a stellar line-up of events. A Notice of Series was issued on December 29, 2025, outlining the full schedule, while an announcement on December 15, 2025, highlighted the strength of the planned calendar. With the Bushwhacker Cup now removed, sailors and teams will need to adjust their plans accordingly.

The Bushwhacker Cup also featured as part of the Melges 24 Southeast Racing Series 2026, adding further impact to the cancellation for competitors focused on regional competition. No official reason for the cancellation has been announced at this time.

Sailors interested in the remaining events on the North American Sailing Series schedule are encouraged to monitor the official notice board and registration pages for updates on other regattas throughout the 2026 season.
