The 2028 Worlds venue selection is heating up as two impressive bids have been submitted to host the next A-Class Catamaran World Championships. Gdynia in Poland and Medemblik in the Netherlands are both vying for the honour of staging the prestigious event, and sailors around the globe are eager to see which venue will be chosen.
Gdynia has put forward a proposal to host the regatta in June or July 2028, while Medemblik is targeting September 2028. Both locations are well-regarded sailing destinations with strong track records of hosting international regattas, making this a compelling contest between two quality venues.
The decision rests with the National Associations, who have already received the full details of each bid. Sailors keen to influence the outcome are encouraged to contact their respective National Associations to ensure their preferences are recorded ahead of the vote.
The final decision will be made by ballot at the IACA World General Meeting in Tampa on November 7th at 09:00 ET (14:00 GMT, 15:00 CET). This gathering of the International A-Class Catamaran Association will determine where the world’s top A-Class sailors will compete in 2028, and all eyes will be on the result as both venues offer exciting possibilities for a memorable championship.
